More inspiring people...

I love this process of sharing things, stories, and moments in my life because it allows me to reflect on the content I'm writing about.  I guess a journal was something I tried starting for years but it never caught on for me.  Perhaps because I felt that the idea of writing is to either record or share something, but writing in a blank notebook just seems kind of lonely.  Like shouting in an empty room...probably isn't that successful.  I'd rather give a part of myself to people reading this because it may help someone else, or inspire someone else to start a blog of their own, or maybe it will just make you think a little.  Either way, I have found this process to be extremely helpful in reflecting on my own thoughts.  I think I shall try to share how inspiring someone (or multiple people) is to me on a weekly basis.  Friends, family, or complete strangers.

So the other day I was at a Super Bowl party at my Aunt Karen's house.  My parents, sister, nephew, cousins, Aunt and Uncle was all in attendance.  I love seeing all of them, but I especially love seeing Grams and Tom.  Since I can remember I've called my Grandma Tomasi the nickname Grams.  She is a true inspiration and has contributed a significant impact in my life.  My Grandfather Tomasi passed away when my Mother was in her teens so I never had an opportunity to meet him but looking back at pictures I have lots of his same facial features so I still carry him in my good looks.  Haahaaa! My Grams raised seven kids on her own, after Grandpa passed. Can you imagine?! She was an extremely hard worker and the older sisters would help out many times with the day-to-day tasks of helping the younger children. Grams has always gone out of her way to make me feel like a special person. We have always had a special bond, and her absolute perseverance is astonishing to me.  I’ve never really met anyone else like her in this world.  She inspires me every day as she continues to navigate the cards that life deals to us, good or bad.  It was really sweet because at one point during the party last Sunday she said to me (I’m paraphrasing) “when you were a little boy and I’d come over to your Royal Oak house you were just a little boy, but you would always run towards me and give me a hug.  We have always had a special bond.”  I smiled and said, “yup!”  She is and will be always that special person to me.

I admire Tom, my Grandma’s boyfriend (after Grandpa passed) because he has always stuck by her side and spends lots of happy times with my Grams.  Every night they enjoy each other’s company watching television or chatting about the day’s events.  Tom is an active owner of a local restaurant, so he will bring food home for Grams sometimes or take her out to dinner and a movie.  They have traveled all over the place and he never forgets her birthday!  I look up to him as well, simply because he makes a complete effort to be the best man he can in my Grandma’s life.

These two people inspire me and make be become a better person, living life!
